Black Music Awards
::
Follows Grammy Night Los Angeles ::
The fifth annual Los Angeles
Black Music Awards
will follow the Grammy Awards on February
11, 2006 at the Wilshire
Ebell Theater in Los Angeles.
Highlights
of this year's show include the Hall of
Fame Induction, recognition of the Living
Legends and over 200 local national and
international singers, musicians, composers
and entertainers nominated in gospel,
jazz, R&B, blues, rap, neo soul, spoken
word, stage and film categories. Each
year the gala grows more and more and
now become considered the "Black"
Grammy's by some. "This is the show
that truly recognizes talent and contributions
without being a popularity contest,"
said one of last year's attendees. Tickets
are now available by calling (323) 393-8425.
Black
Music Awards Helps Build New Stars
Without
a major sponsor, or any big fanfare, the
Black Music Association Of America that
produces the LA Black Music Awards is
giving back to the community. Last year
over $200,000 worth of music equipment
was distributed among those helping young
people reach their goals in music. "We
take pride in giving back first, then
moving forward to bring more opportunities
into the lives of those who need it most,"
said Rick Warren, president and founder
of the BMA's.
The "Best
Of The Best" Vie For BMA Golden
Mic Award
When
it comes to a showcase of stars and talent,
the BMA's rock the house. And of course
it would not the Black Music Awards without
a new twist to add to the flavor of being
Black. "One year ago George Clinton
and Flavor Flav turned it out, last year
we did a tribute Marvin Gaye, and this
year we have a big surprise that is sure
to stir up it up a bit," said Rick
Warren, president of the BMA. The best
that entertainment has to offer has been
nominated by record labels, radio stations,
promoters and fellow entertainers. Over
200 nominees will walk the red carpet
into the Wilshire Ebell Theater where
they will enjoy an evening of elegance
and entertainment, while waiting for their
name to be called. "This is the night
of nights for the best of the best. The
excitement is already building."
